Description

Let's Go is an app that aims to make daily travel easier for commuters in India. It allows users to book daily, weekly, and monthly passes for BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses online, as well as tickets for DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) buses online. It also provides live tracking of DTC buses and other transportation options such as cabs, ola, and more. The app is designed to be a one-stop solution to all the hassles of regular transportation options and the struggle to find reasonably priced short distance rides.

Problem Statement

The problem that Let's Go app is trying to solve is the lack of convenience, reliability, and affordability of public transportation in India. According to a report by the World Bank, India has the second-largest urban population in the world, with more than 400 million people living in cities¹. However, the public transportation system in India is often inadequate, inefficient, and overcrowded, leading to long waiting times, frequent delays, and safety issues². Moreover, the public transportation fares are often high and vary depending on the distance, time, and mode of travel³. This makes it difficult for commuters to plan their budget and travel expenses.

On the other hand, private transportation options such as cabs, ola, and more are also not very feasible for daily commuters, as they are often expensive, unavailable, or surge-priced during peak hours. Additionally, these options contribute to the traffic congestion and air pollution in the cities, which have adverse effects on the environment and public health.

Therefore, there is a need for a transportation app that can provide commuters with a convenient, reliable, and affordable way to travel within the city, while also reducing the environmental impact of transportation.

Solution

The solution that Let's Go app offers is a platform that connects commuters with various transportation options, such as BMTC buses, DTC buses, cabs, ola, and more, and allows them to book their tickets or passes online. The app also provides live tracking of the buses and other vehicles, so that users can plan their travel time and route accordingly. The app aims to achieve the following goals:

Convenience: The app allows users to book their tickets or passes online, without having to stand in long queues or carry cash. Users can also choose from different payment options, such as credit/debit cards, net banking, UPI, or wallets. Users can also view the availability, schedule, and route of the buses and other vehicles, and select the best option for their travel needs.

Reliability: The app provides live tracking of the buses and other vehicles, so that users can see the real-time location, speed, and ETA of their ride. Users can also get notifications and alerts about any delays, cancellations, or changes in the service. Users can also rate and review their ride experience, and provide feedback to the app and the service providers.

Affordability: The app offers competitive and transparent pricing for the tickets and passes, which are based on the distance, time, and mode of travel. Users can also compare the prices of different transportation options, and choose the most economical one. Users can also save money by booking daily, weekly, or monthly passes, which offer discounts and benefits for frequent travelers.

Sustainability: The app encourages users to opt for public transportation or shared rides, which can reduce the number of vehicles on the road, and thus reduce the traffic congestion and air pollution in the cities. The app also promotes the use of electric vehicles, which have lower carbon emissions and fuel consumption. The app also supports the social and economic development of the local communities, by providing employment opportunities and income generation for the drivers and service providers.

Design Process

The design process of the app followed the following steps:

Research The first step was to conduct user research, market research, and competitor analysis, to understand the needs, preferences, pain points, and expectations of the target users, as well as the current trends, opportunities, and challenges in the transportation industry. The research methods included surveys, interviews, observations, and online research.

Ideation The next step was to generate and evaluate ideas for the app's features, functions, and value proposition, based on the research insights and the problem statement. The ideation methods included brainstorming, mind mapping, sketching, and storyboarding.

Prototyping The third step was to create low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes of the app's user interface, user flow, and interactions, based on the selected ideas and the design principles. The prototyping tools included paper, pen, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.

Testing The final step was to test and validate the prototypes with the target users, stakeholders, and experts, to collect feedback, measure usability, and identify any issues or areas for improvement. The testing methods included user testing, heuristic evaluation, and A/B testing.

Design Screens

The following are some of the design screens of the app:

Home Screen: The home screen of the app allowed users to select their origin and destination, and view the available transportation options, such as BMTC buses, DTC buses, cabs, ola, and more. Users could also see the price, duration, and distance of each option, and compare them. Users could also access the menu, profile, and settings from the home screen. ![Home Screen]

Bus Screen: The bus screen of the app allowed users to book their tickets or passes for BMTC or DTC buses online. Users could also see the schedule, route, and live location of the buses, and plan their travel accordingly. Users could also rate and review their bus ride, and provide feedback to the app and the service providers. ![Bus Screen]

Cab Screen: The cab screen of the app allowed users to book their cabs or ola online. Users could also see the live location, speed, and ETA of their cab or ola, and track their ride. Users could also rate and review their cab or ola ride, and provide feedback to the app and the service providers. ![Cab Screen]

Profile Screen: The profile screen of the app allowed users to view and edit their personal and payment information, such as name, email, phone number, credit/debit card, net banking, UPI, or wallet. Users could also view and manage their booking history, rewards, and referrals from the profile screen. ![Profile Screen]
